SMART IT People has an exciting full time opportunity for a Sales Leader with either knowledge of the furniture industry or the Triangle market area. Generous base + bonus!

This is an opportunity to influence the vision, sales culture, sales process and training for this newly created division of new and used office furniture sales in both an outlet space and direct selling to companies, with less than 25 desk workers or projects less than 10K.

The Pre-Owned Sales Leader is responsible for growing our sales by attracting and selling to buyers coming into the Outlet space and by direct selling to companies in the Triangle market area. Our sales and marketing efforts in this market segment are focused on:

An outlet space for walk in customers to see and buy new and used office furniture.
Internet advertising.
External sales prospecting with companies of 25 or less desk workers and/or 10,000 sq ft or less of office space.

Required experience:

3-5 years of sales management experience.
Furniture industry and/or knowledge of the Triangle market area.
Ability to development the infrastructure of a relatively new division, which would include developing a vision for the group, developing the sales culture, establishing a more formal sales process, managing sales team deployment and sales training.

Primary Responsibilities

Develop and maintain a high performing/motivated sales team. Recruit and hire as necessary. Set challenging sales development activities for each salesperson.
Manage the sales representative’s weekly activities and performance. Track, share and provide feedback on key selling activity metrics with each salesperson.
Have a firsthand knowledge of key opportunities and the work being done to develop and close the business.
Maintain a sales culture that motivates, recognizes and rewards the sales representatives for achieving their sales goals. Address out-of-line situations.
Manage the pricing process.
Provide input on used furniture buys.
Maintain a clean and organized showroom of new and used products.
Identify and address obstacles to the division’s profitable growth.
Provide direction to the marketing dept for establishing key used furniture marketing and website objectives. This would include database management, e-blasts, catalog/mini-catalog distribution, special promotions and events, and website development. Monitor the progress towards accomplishing the objectives and address any obstacles.
Prepare a written quarterly and annual sales plan for the division.
Achieve the division’s quarterly and annual sales goals.
Achieve the division’s furniture gross profit % goal.
Maintain a healthy sales funnel for the division.
